QR Codes: How to Make Them Work for You!

QR codes are great for so many things. They make sharing information easy–and, best of all, touchless! They can also be easily generated online for free, making using them a breeze that requires only a little effort to get a big impact.

Menus

It’s long been known that menus are one of the most high-touch areas in a restaurant, and eliminating them makes things easier for everyone. Plus, digital menus are great because they’re easily updated when some ingredients are out of stock or when you have special offers, like seasonal rotating menus. But what else can QR codes be used for in restaurants?

QR Codes for Feedback and Reviews

Encouraging your guests to leave feedback (for internal use in improving your business) or reviews (to help draw in more customers) can be tricky. Leaving a QR code on tables or on takeout packaging that links to a form or your Yelp or Google reviews page can be a great way to do so. Guests will be more likely to leave a review if they can access the form or page easily, rather than having to type in the link themselves.

Social Media

Your restaurant probably has social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (and if not, it’s time to make some!). Linking to these sites via a QR code eliminates the extra step of guests having to type in your handle or username, therefore encouraging them to give you a follow.

Behind-the-Scenes Videos

QR codes are a great way to beef up your print menus or other print marketing material with extra “bonus features”. We love to include extra photos, or even behind-the-scenes videos! These give guests extra insight into how you develop and create the dishes on your menu, and can help foster a personable connection when touchless ordering and contactless service is becoming the norm.

QR Codes for Events

Special events, like restaurant trivia nights, are another great time to implement QR codes. You can use them to have guests register for events in advance and even to submit their answers to trivia questions digitally for a fully touch-free experience! When advertising events on flyers or posters around your restaurant or around town, include QR codes with links to webpages where guests can find out more. This also provides an easy way for guests to share the event information link with friends once they’ve scanned the code themselves, helping you draw in even more traffic!

QR codes are an absolutely fantastic little tool for your restaurant to use in a wide variety of ways! They’re simple, but can be immensely helpful in driving traffic and increasing sales! We hope that these tips and ideas were helpful to you as you work to make QR codes work for you and your business!
